one things for sure we are visiting bastar in this trip.. either we go to a place on the way to bastar from vizak spend sum sym there also, to cover more part in south or we go to bastar spend two days then go to some other place in the south .... and then carry on to the north...
second, we need a NGOs help.... wat we offer them is that we help in bringing out some aspect may be their culture, crafts, problems to the rest of the people which will help them in some way... for that apart from our personal mission statement we need to have a group mission statement so that we can work towards one thing .... since we have only 7 days (nt more than 3 days in one place ) and limited money we cant do too much .....

Vidhi,

I have a small problem with your following comment, 'wat we offer them is that we help in bringing out some aspect may be their culture, crafts, problems to the rest of the people which will help them in some way'. This smacks of blind assumptions, the one thing I have noticed in my short time in India and even shorter time interacting with NOG's/craft/people who know about the issues is that you can never assume that these tribals/crafts people have any problems. The top down approach, meaning we go in there and prescribe solutions to a problem (which might not exist!) is inherently troublesome. What your comment lacks is background knowledge of the area. I would suggest you find out what the issues are and get in touch with the NGO's amd see what kinds of things they have already identified as 'issues' related to the local community. This applies to all of you, before we go, we need to be aware of the different approaches that could be taken when we get there. At the moment the approach is very naive and ill-informed, i'm also guilty of this as I knwo little about the issues, so lets look at this as a group of artists and designers and be sensitive to how we could potentially deal with the situations we find ourselves in.
